Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to Kampala. Today is dedicated to exploring the Buganda Kingdom, the largest and most influential cultural group in Uganda. Visit the Kasubi Royal Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by a tour of the Lubiri Palace, the Kabaka’s official residence. You will also explore traditional shrines and hear stories about the Buganda monarchy’s history and influence. Overnight in Kampala.
Travel eastward to Jinja, home to the Source of the Nile. En route, stop at the Sezibwa Falls, a site of cultural and spiritual importance to the Baganda people. Later, visit local craft centers and enjoy storytelling sessions from community elders. In Jinja, take a boat ride to the Source of the Nile before settling into your lodge.
Spend the day immersing yourself in Busoga culture. Visit a traditional homestead to learn about local cooking methods, farming practices, and crafts such as basket weaving. Enjoy interactive performances of dance and music that reflect the spirit of eastern Uganda. Overnight in Jinja or Mbale.
Head to the slopes of Mount Elgon, home to the Bagisu people, who are famous for their Imbalu circumcision ceremonies, a traditional rite of passage. Drive to Fort Portal, the seat of the Tooro Kingdom. Visit the Karuzika Palace, perched on a hilltop with sweeping views of the region. On your final day, return to Kampala or Entebbe with a stop at local craft markets where you can purchase souvenirs such as handmade jewelry, woven baskets, and traditional fabrics.
