Along the way, you’ll experience thrilling treks to meet chimpanzees, golden monkeys, and the world-famous mountain gorillas, while also learning about Rwanda’s cultural heritage and history.

You’ll walk beneath towering trees on a canopy walk in Nyungwe, explore tea plantations and traditional museums, and immerse yourself in the spectacular landscapes that have earned Rwanda its title as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” Each day brings a new discovery, blending adventure, culture, and the serenity of Rwanda’s unspoiled wilderness.
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by your safari guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, embark on a guided tour of Kigali, one of Africa’s cleanest and most vibrant cities. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial for an important reflection on the country’s history, explore the bustling craft markets where local artisans display handmade goods, and enjoy views of Kigali’s rolling green hills. In the evening, settle in at your hotel and prepare for the adventures ahead
After breakfast, begin the scenic drive southwards toward Nyungwe Forest National Park. The journey takes you through Rwanda’s countryside, dotted with endless tea plantations and charming villages. En route, stop at the King’s Palace Museum in Nyanza to learn about Rwanda’s monarchy and traditional culture. Continue through the picturesque landscapes of southern Rwanda before arriving at your lodge, set on the edge of one of Africa’s oldest and most biodiverse rainforests.
Start the day early with an exhilarating chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe Forest. Guided by experienced rangers, you’ll hike through dense rainforest alive with bird calls and rustling primates until you encounter a troop of wild chimpanzees. Watching their playful behavior and close-knit social interactions is an unforgettable experience. In the afternoon, venture onto the famous Nyungwe Canopy Walk, a suspended bridge high above the forest floor. From here, enjoy sweeping views over the ancient treetops, misty valleys, and countless bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.
After breakfast, depart Nyungwe and travel north toward Volcanoes National Park, located in the Virunga Mountains. The long but scenic drive passes through terraced hillsides, coffee plantations, and the sparkling waters of Lake Kivu, where you may pause for a lakeside lunch. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive in Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Check into your lodge, nestled at the base of towering volcanic peaks, and enjoy the cool highland atmosphere in preparation for the gorilla trek.
Today is the highlight of your safari—gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After a morning briefing at the park headquarters, set off with your ranger guides into the misty forest. The trek can range from one to several hours, but the reward is beyond measure. Spending an hour in the company of a gorilla family, watching them feed, play, and interact, is one of the most profound wildlife encounters in the world. Return to the lodge in the afternoon to relax, reflect, and perhaps enjoy local cultural performances.
On your final morning, enjoy a golden monkey trekking experience in the bamboo zones of Volcanoes National Park. These energetic primates are a joy to watch as they leap from branch to branch, their golden-orange coats glimmering in the forest light. After the trek, begin your journey back to Kigali, arriving in the afternoon. Depending on your schedule, you may enjoy last-minute shopping or a farewell lunch before being dropped off at the airport for your departure flight.
